We thank God for our donors and the important part they each play in sustaining and advancing the purposes of Tyndale.
The 2016/2017 year was one of significant and important progress for Tyndale. We have occupied the Bayview campus for two years now and it truly feels like 'home.' We are delighted with the 'finished product' and thrilled to see it being used extensively by students and external organizations alike.
On the financial front, strong student enrolment at both the University College and the Seminary and increased external usage of the facilities contributed to a revenue increase of more than 12% this year. At the same time, operating expenses declined for the second year in a row. These solid improvements in Tyndale’s operations, built upon numerous decisions and actions taken by many people over the past three years, generated a substantial and encouraging year-over-year bottom line improvement for the school operations. Unfortunately, donations to the capital fund declined this past year, offsetting much of the year’s operating improvement at the schools. This required us to defer, and in some cases alter, various plans. While the overall financial result for the year - a $1.1 million net surplus - represented a notable year-over-year improvement, the shortfall in capital fund donations meant this surplus was required entirely for capital needs.
For more than 120 years Tyndale has had the privilege of educating and equipping women and men to impact the world for God and His purposes. This continues to be vitally important, perhaps more so today than ever before. Tyndale has experienced many financial challenges throughout the years which have been met through the selfless giving of so many people. We thank God for our donors and the important part they each play in sustaining and advancing the purposes of Tyndale. We are excited about a future of continued operating improvements and expanded academic offerings designed to attract increasing numbers of students to both schools. Please join us in this mission.
